Am I the only person in the country who can't stand soaps on tele. It seems to me that a lot of people watch them more out of habit than any other reason, it's 7:00 must be Emmerdale 7:30 must be Corrie and so on and so on.
is real life such a drag that you become adicted to dross. If all the things happened in your village that happen in Emmerdale you would be really ****** off and move.
If you are a real manic depressive you can watch Eastenders. Why is it the people are portayed as so miserable?, I am from South London and know very few miserable cockneys they are normally happy go lucky to the point of being really irritating so where did the idea of dull depressing East End come from.:rant:

It is possible to wean yourself off soaps. I used to be an absolute soap fiend, watched them all (Corrie, Brookie, Eastenders, Emmerdale - and Dallas, Dynasty, Flamingo Road etc. back in the day) religiously. Then 10 years ago I got a job working evenings and started taping them all, but never had time to watch much and ended up with such a backlog that I decided it was the time to go cold turkey and I've never felt the slightest desire to start watching again. I can still quote chapter and verse of Corrie up to 1997, but after that I haven't a clue.
