PENGUIN 13-12-2004, 17:19 I would say the one closest to where you live, more chance of driving on the roads you know in your test. D2J 13-12-2004, 17:22 My test was on roads I knew... Straight past my house and round Parson Cross  The test centre was Middlewood :D mat1978 13-12-2004, 17:25 I would say that they're all crap:D especially when your in that waiting room. The 'best' would surley be in the area that you know the roads and have had lessons. Mat:thumbsup: PENGUIN 13-12-2004, 17:27 Originally posted by Deejay My test was on roads I knew... THE_ONE 13-12-2004, 19:08 YEP AGREE MIDDLEWOOD ROAD Modesty 15-12-2004, 11:15 I can only offer this, Stay Away From Rotherham ( Instructors and test centre). I took about 5 tests in Rotherham (lost count) and at the very least 60 hours of lessons. Just could'nt pass the damm thing. I'm probabaly just not gifted in the automobile dept, but with my first test at Middlewood I only went and passed it! Now I don't buy the "take it where you know the roads best" because you have to handle whatever they throw at you that day, but my instructor took me all over that area saying " he may do this, he may do that". I was one step ahead of the examiner all the way. One point to mention, with all those hours (and money spent) in Rotherham, I was amazed to learn quite a few new and important things with my Sheffield instructor. It should have been almost impossible to learn me anything having been ALLOWED TO GO INTO ALL THOSE TESTS. Finally I have been told loads of horrible story's about the Rotherham test centre and because they may not be true I won't go into them, but bare it in mind. *Twinkle* 15-12-2004, 11:17 It'd have to be Handsworth for me... Passed 1st time on November 30th!!! Yay! d71146 15-12-2004, 12:19 Originally posted by Modesty I can only offer this, Stay Away From Rotherham ( Instructors and test centre). There are a lot of myths about test centres and driving examiners abound the facts are all the examiners are trained to the same standard and are periodically assessed themselves on the tests by the Senior Examiner so at the end of the day if one is to the required standard laid down by the DSA you will pass if you are not you will surely fail. d71146 15-12-2004, 12:20 Originally posted by d71146 There are a lot of myths about test centres and driving examiners abound the facts are all the examiners are trained to the same standard and are assessed themselves periodically on the tests by the Senior Examiner so at the end of the day if one is to the required standard laid down by the DSO you will pass if you are not you will surely fail. Good on ya :D  I was taken on potential test routes around Handsworth & Middlewood (or so I was told :suspect: ) Still found the Middlewood routes better, I felt more comfortable on the roads, don't know Handsworth at all.. Yeah I'm with you on that, story's are just that and like I said usually not true. The main point of the post though is a valid point, and my own personal expeirience that I am sharing with anyone pondering on where to have lessons. Got to agree with you on that one. All examiners are checked frequently to ensure they are up to standard (as are we instructors), and they should all mark to the same standard. No test centre is any better than any other, and the simple fatc remains that if you are good enough, then you will pass. |
