I couldn't believe there was no thred for this, so I thought why not start one.

If you want to discuss tactics, modelling or just tell us stories of amazing battles you've had, weird and brilliant dice rolls, or how you managed to hold off an entire Chaos army without getting totally obliterated.

"In the grim reality of the future there is only war!"

I haven't played 40K for years, though might be tempted back into it (or Warmachine, which also looks like a lot of fun).

I was recently reminded of Blood Bowl, however, and am seriously tempted to see if I can muster some people to play once I get settled (I'm not moving to Sheffield until next week). Of course both require me to think about painting models, which doesn't go down well with my atrocious hand-eye co-ordination, but needs must, eh?!

I wouldn't worry. All of my army, which is Imperial Guard by the way, is only undercoated at the moment, and even that was done by my brother's mates. I'm not too fussed with the modelling side of the game, I'm more about the battles and tactics.

I used to play this back when it was just a book of rules! No board game at all. Still have Space Hulk (the original one), Advanced Space Crusade, Space Marine, Adeptus Titanicus and Heroquest but not played any of them for around 7/8 years now.

Well I've only been playing for just under a year now. I started with Imperial Guard and, although I loved the fact that they were the underdogs and I kept annoying my little brother with them when we battled, I found that they were too weak for me. Mainly due to my inexperience of tactics. I'm looking to start another army and go back to guard when I'm a bit more savvy tactically. I can't decide who to go with though.

Chaos look awesome and I love the thought of Nurgle because they are so disgusting.

Any ideas?

I used to have a Tyranid army and a Chaos Black Legion with Abbadon The Despoiler.

Haven't played it in almost 10 years though. Though I do have the really rather good Dawn of War for my PC, I just wish they'd release a Tyranid expansion.

Your local Games Workshop will hold tournaments and games days.

I'm quite lucky because most of my brother's mates play. I only got in to it recently as, when I was at school, I thought it was really geeky. However, when I'd read a bit more about it and talked to them about it, I saw it was a really cool hobby so decided to start. There's about six or seven of us that play usually, only because one of them has a huge attic bedroom and he's got a 8'x4' gaming table in there. So we all pile round to his.
