Does anyone know where the Hillsborough Barracks is?

I know it's a well hidden top secret installation, but if you know where it is please feel free to let ANC couriers know as their Sheffield delivery driver couldn't find it today!

I sent something to a friend's office in the barracks today, or at least attempted to. When he called to tell me that it was getting close to his office shutting and nothing had arrived I called the Sheffield branch of ANC to enquire why this was and was told rather shockingly that the courer couldn't find Hillsborough Barracks!

It's a little suprising that they don't use maps, GPS or even staff with a sense of direction because I think the majority of Sheffield people know or at least have a basic idea of where it is (or could find it if not).

I'll stick with Royal Mail next time, they tend to find their way around :hihi:

Behind Morrisions? You know the one in .....

How very irritating for you though. I had some people who worked in hillsborough barracks who couldn't tell me were they were so perhaps there is something in the top secret thing. Sheffield's own area 51.

Its bang in the middle of Hillsborough, surrounded by one-way systems, tram gates and no parking zones...
Not surprised he couldn't find it!

All the driver would have to do is arrive somewhere within the barracks and ask at the nearest reception desk to find out where the company in question is within the barracks- I don't think there's anyone on this side of the city who couldn't at least get the driver to one of the entrances of the place!

The worst bit is that the courier didn't call anyone to say he couldn't find the place, he just went back to the depot and left the parcel there. The courier company didn't call anyone either, it was only when they were chased up about it that they said what had happened.

The parcel was picked up from their depot tonight and when asked about why they couldn't find the barracks the person handing the packge over said "because the driver that does S6 is useless". That's a direct quote.

The address I sent it to was

xxxxxxxx
Dragoon Court
Hillsborough Barracks
S6 2GZ

I put the company name on but removed it here for privacy reasons. That address appears to be the correct postal address. According to the recipient anything they order normally turns up without issue, although he thinks this was the first time they'd had a delivery by ANC.

Ah well, people make mistakes I guess. It would have just been a little better had the courier called the recipient to get directions or even if the depot called to say "sorry, your next day delivery won't be turning up" instead of leaving it for the recipient to call up at the close of business to ask where it is.

That's what I thought, but the courier seemed to have issues finding it.

Is there anyone on here that doesn't actually know where it is??

It could be worse- I once had a next day delivery (of a complete pallet of boxes) go missing when it had been sent to Hillsborough in Northern Ireland, despite being marked with 'Sheffield' and a postcode in 2 inch high letters.

It cost the courier a small fortune in air freight costs to get it back for me, only to then find that my promotional material was so squashed as to be unusable (and a week too late).

Why on earth didn't the courier ask someone, i honestly doubt anyone within Hillsborough wouldn't have told them exactly where to go! Also the word 'Barracks' is up on the Wall isn't it? There's a nice bug Morrisons, A job centre and goodness knows how many other differnt shops and offices within the Barracks themselves, surely the courier company should have insured the courier knew where he was going 1st.

I have had documents get lost in the post because one gets my postcode (S10 xxx) mixed up with SE10 and Swindon (SN). This is despite me giving it out phonetically.

We were discussing this tonight and my mate suggested that he thought it was the 'Friday Syndrome' where someone thinks "sod it" because it's Friday, says they can't find an address, heads back and clocks off early to go to the pub.

I'm obviously not saying that's what happened, there's nothing to suggest that the courier wasn't in a situation where he couldn't find the place, but they did handle it very badly as described above.

You took the words right out of my mouth Patty,it can't be missed, the traffic slows right down there too, you could jump off the bus right outside.
