Can anyone tell me when Moore and Wrights burned down at Norton. I remember when I was small watching it burn but cannot recall when.

I worked at Moore & Wrights at Meadowhead in 1956 approx, as a comptometer operator. We worked in what I remember as long wooden type sheds ( a fire waiting to happen). A few years later we moved to a new factory at Handsworth where micrometers were made.

I can't actually remember there being a fire while I worked there.

I think you are mistaken it never burned down I am almost postive it was demolished

Did Sandra Yeardley work in the warehouse at Handsworth?

not when i work there.

My father worked down Fitzwilliam street there during the war and on to the early 70's
