My son wants to start learning the Guitar. He can have lessons at school but we are a bit lost as to which one he wants to do.
He can learn Accoustic, electric or bass.
Can anyone give us the pro's and con's of each one so he can make an informed decision.
Thanks
acoustic is harder to get to grips with in my opinion..so would be a good place to start! however if this gets him frustrated a switch to electric and hearing 1 chord ringing out loud can do your confidence the world of good.... bass you can pick up if you know guitar anyways...its not hard after learning electric guitar.
practice makes perfect... and you can pick up an old acoustic for under £70.
Thanks for replying
Now that chord ringing out loud is not music to my ears! He is now hovering between accoustic and electric.
I am assuming electric guitars can have headphones plugged in to save my sanity.
Is is easier to change from accoustic to electric than the other way around?
i would assume it is easier to go from acoustic to electric than the other way.. acoustic picks up every little error for you to hear while an electric and blurr the mistakes into one beautiful loud noise :hihi: .. i started on electric and have since bought an acoustic and it certainly makes me feel i need a LOT more practice then i originally thought.
and yes you can get a little practice amp for under £50 and it should have a headphone socket on.
Thanks
He has decided on acoustic and is happily making noise upstairs at the moment. He will start lessons at school in September.
