Used to be Academy of Sound but I think it's now Sound Control.
There's another Sound Control on Paternoster Row near Radio Sheffield and the big steel drum jobbies.

As mentioned, Sound Control on city road (used to be academy of sound) also Sound Control located across from the 'national centre for popular music' (if its still called that!). There is Wavelength on London Road but i'm not sure if they are just guitars, i've never paid much attention...or if you have transport you could check out Electro in Doncaster which is a great shop.

Dunno if there is a Fox's anymore, it seems to change location every week!

Unfortunately there are no good music shops in sheffield these days. The best ones are in Doncaster. Especially Electro Music.

The music shops that do exist in sheffield are mainly Guitar shops and don't have much choice of anything else.

That's not a music shop it is a hifi shop.
A music shop is a place which sells musical instruments and sheet music.

As stated earlier, the Sound Control in town has now closed. Sound Control on City Road doesn't stock keyboards per se, more leaning towards stage pianos and controller keyboards. The old Fox's at the top of the Moor has been bought by it's old manager John Millington and mainly sell home keyboards and pianos and sheet music etc. Depending on what you want give them a try!

To that end, and for the record, Sheffield Music Shop, on Whitham Road, Broomhill is very good - also for repairs of instruments. If you ask, they'll help if they possibly can, even if it's not in stock.

Sound Control on Paternoster row has closed! ARSE!! I could get 2 sets of Rotosound swing bass strings in there for £25 - the other music shops sell them for about £19 for ONE set! Now I'm gonna have to cycle all the way to City Road! I say again - ARSE!!

Not moved to City Road. The music shop On City Road has been there for well over 20 years in various incarnations,Carlsboro,Academy of Sound & then bought by "Sound Control" as it is today. Sound Control near the Train station was a branch of the one on City road.

Could be wrong.
