We're having a reunion type affair, 18 years after uni, and have 10 people descending on Sheffield wanting a pleasant evening of food and atmosphere. Can you recommend anywhere where the service is good but not rushed, the atmosphere on a saturday is lively but not hectic, and where the food is good but not too pricey?

Please support your recommendation with some info, thanks for your help!

Jabu on London Road. You can take as long as you like and keep ordering more. Excellent food, friendly staff and a fun 'hands on' experience as you cook your own food in big steaming hotpots of Szechuan soup.

thanks for those will look into both - another requirement is a good proportion of veggie dishes. Anywhere else?

I would go for a BYO place, it will keep the cost down.

The Runaway Girl sounds perfect. Nice tables; quieter when eating. A tapas style menu; order seven for ten people and a few extras; great veg options.

Live music later.

A group of us had a great evening and due to eating had a table for the rest of the evening.

I would try Platillos in the new leopold square, it will impress your visiting friends & the food is great, tapas based, with lots of veggie options. www.platillos.co.uk - or try Wig & Pen, again in the city centre, behind the cathedral. They do tapas but also great main course items.
