Can anyone help with this.
When I click on a folder, say My Documents another window opens saying "search results" instead of opening My Documents in the same window.
There is a little dog at the bottom left of the screen.
If I right click on a folder the first option is search the next is open, this is how I am getting round it.
How do I get rid of the search option, it's doing me nut in.:x
Thanks.

Still getting the search window.
Something I didnt mention was that this started to happen after my son installed a windows 95 game. The folder icon changed to the old 95 image, I managed to get the XP folder icon back but cant get rid of the search window.

A Win 95 game shouldn't mess up the system like this.
Have you tried doing a System Restore?

Yep, no joy.
I have also done,
Folder Options>
File Types>
File Folder, set to none. In advanced it shows find.
Folder, set to none.In advanced it shows;
Browse with paint shop pro 8
explore
open(set as default)
I havn't messed with these settings though.

Problem solved wooooooooohooooooooo:banana:
If anyone else gets this problem this is the fix
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate and then click the Default value under the following keys in the registry if this problem occurs with folders:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
If this problem occurs with drives:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
Click Modify on the Edit menu.
Type none in the Value data box, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.
