Those selling prints

Recommended Posts

Do you ask for payment up front or on delivery of the prints?

Have you ever found asking for money upfront has put people off at all?

Setup a website so your clients can look at your work and automatically order prints online, without you having to do anything. For some reason people seem happy doing business this way, rather than you asking personally for £££ for xxx prints where clients don't think they should pay until they have seen finished prints. Too later for you once you have ordered and paid for prints.

To cover your costs have a charge to do the photo shoot so that even if the client decides not to purchase, you have at least covered travelling costs and your time.

Also make sure you put a good copyright mark on your online photos... too many people think everything on the net is free.

Is the Photoshop watermark "permanent" or is it possible for the unscrupulous to remove it digitally?

I wanted to stay away from watermarks if I could, but starting to think you might be right. After I found someone had 'borrowed' a pic of mine for their website, then wondered why I was narked at them!

Another guy borrowed a pic, but did at least have the decency to contact me and let me know, ask if wanted credit etc....
