Yes you can, but I'd advise you to speak to the vets before hand

somebody i know uses calms but i wudnt reccomend it unless u have spoke to a vet it takes 2 mins to call them better to be safe than sorry x
We use ginger biscuits for our dog, ginger is really good for nausea for humans too. We don't feed him for at least four hours before travelling, and then has couple of ginger biscuits half hour or so before travelling. The ones with stem ginger bits in are best, but ordinary ginger snaps work too. Our vet recommended this and convential medicine as a last resort, as tend to make dog really groggy. Also if you have room in car put dog in own bed in dog basket as they are less likely to pace and get restless. Murray has been fine since we've done this, even been to Cornwall and several trips home to the Hebrides with no problems! Good Luck.

I bought some herbal ones from pets at home. I havent tried them yet but as they are herbal im sure they wont do them any harm.
The advice I have for people is dont feed your dog from 6pm the night before travel, its food that makes my dog sick, so obviously I cant give a ginger biscuit cos she throws it up about 10 minutes into travelling. The only thing that has ever worked for us is not feeding. :)

yep, I've used these with the dramaqueen dobe. Not so much for sickness but to calm her whilst we travel.
Ive found though that they take a while to have an effect (Ailsa howls all the way to wherever we are heading which is great fun when you are stuck in a car for 4 hours or more) We tend to break up the journey and look on the map for places we can stop off to give Ailsa (and our ears) a break. If she has the dorwest tablets, she stops howling for a while and takes a nap but unfortunately if she gets sight of green fields or coast - or the road surgace suddenly changes, there's just no stopping her.
Oh and we used to use a dog crate with a cover over it as there is a suggestion that not being able to see where they are going can deter motion sickness in dogs- but Ailsa hated being confined and made even more of a racket. Since changing the car, the crate is too big to fit anyway. She lays across the back seat wearing her fabby seat belt and with access to a bowl of cool water, that seems to settle her more.
We asked about the prscription ones but were advised by the vet that these really zonk a dog out and would only be any good if travelling really long distance.
Crikey- I dont pay £15 for mine, I'm pretty sure. Also, I think Shirley's do some travel sickness tablets you can buy from pet superstores. Another thing some people swear by is the bach Flower Remedies.
We used to give our old dog, Penny, travel sickness pills. She used to throw up if you opened the car door in front of her so you can imagine what the journey would be like.
