Are there any shops in sheffield or near sheffield that sell 2nd hand photography equipment? I'm looking for a Minolta 50mm AF lens and I don't want to buy from ebay and chance it getting broken by the post.

I got a 50mm Minolta f1.7 from Ebay without problem. Just make sure the thing gets sent with insurance (royal mail special delivery/recorded) you should be fine.

Also worth looking at is CEX at 31 High Street, Sheffield, S1 2GA‎.
It's just below Fargate before where High St joins Arundel Gate.
CEX is next to a Turners bakers and opposite the Halifax.
It recycles PC games and the like (people trade in old for new) but usually has a few cameras, inc DSLRs, in good condition; they seem to insist on the box and all the bits too. They get a few lenses too.
I've had some good bargains from there; the pricing seems fair for the model, age & condition.

Not many other places 4 2nd-hand cameras around in Sheffield.
Jessops don't do trade-ins. so no 2nd hand.

I've not used them, they don't seem to do 2nd hand, but they do sell stuff on ebay; this could be stock they want to shift or might be equipment traded-in.

The 'cash-converters' type of shops etc get a few cameras, but not many; but you never know, you might get lucky.

One thing I find useful is to resist the impulse buy.
Do your research on the many reviews on the web and compare with what's currently available before buying; unless you know your make and models spec's off by heart.

I don't think Harrisons regularly update their site with 2nd hand stuff as some stuff comes in and out so quick. But I do know that if you go down and tell them you are looking for something specific, they will keep and eye out for you and call you if they get it in!
