Right just having a discussion at work as I’ve started commuting by bike. I mentioned I’d gone home via Attercliffe and was asked “why not the Parkway?”
Now I’m 95% sure the Parkway is an area where cycling is prohibited, but I admit I could be wrong.
Anyone know the definitive answer?

According to the highway code you CAN cycle on dual carriageways. Not sure about the parkway though

You can as long as there are no signs saying you cant which I think there are on the parkway
I know normally you can ride a dual carriageway. I was just under the impression there was some specific restriction in place regarding the parkway. I’ve been commuting by car the last couple of years and can’t remember seeing a cycle on it

Yeah I havent seen any cyclists on there - as I said its pretty dangerous esp when you come off into centre of city. I wouldnt cycle there if my life depended on it!

I'm always amazed to see cyclists on any dual carriageway with a national speed limit. There are loads on the A1 and also on the A42 whcih are virtually two lane motorways :loopy:

I can't understand why anyone would wish to cycle down the parkway. People often drive way to fast and these people are completely irrisponsible.
By the way, does anyone know where I can get one of those things that tells you when speed trap is coming up? I'm planning to drive to Scotland in a couple of weeks, and want to get the foot down. I got done driving at 98mph a couple of months back, so can do without another fine and points.
