Hello

I'm looking to try to get some temporary admin work in the public sector in Sheffield. Does anyone know how DWP, DfES etc. fill these types of jobs? People have said they're advertised through the usual Job Centre but I haven't seen anything recently.

Are there any of the agencies which deal with the departments and/or council, NHS, unis? There seem to be so many agencies its difficult to know where to start.

I know Adecco places people in Moorfoot. They are in town - maybe on Church Street.

Way back when I temped for the civil service (good god... 5 years ago!) they had a temp register at the job centre. I think you may need to go in and specifically ask as they didn't advertise the jobs, they just call you up like a normal agency.

I'm told they also use the jobcentre so you could pop in and search their computers or find them online, think its jobcentreplus and you can search from home/work/college. You dont have to be claiming any benefits or register to search.

have friends working there, sounds ok, forms a bit arduous and they do a lot of checking before they appoint, but pays ok and seems like a good thing to have on your CV and also quite secure if you want something longer term.

good luck anyway

Good luck with it. Just to say I know that redundancies are on the cards in the civil service so may not be work available there.

office angels do jobs for the goverment so do brook street agencys you need to have a crb check which they do for you although this took 3 months for me to get through office angels. I did another temp job for those 3 months i was waiting though.
