View Full Version : Book The Knitting Circle by Ann Hood
Hello,
This is not a post about knitting itself but has anyone read this novel (http://www.annhood.us/books)? Someone from the SB knitting group recommended it and now I've got a library copy at home.
It's one of those books that you don't want to put away. Although it' sad from time to time it shows how therapeutic and comforting knitting can be.
I can recommend this book as well.
I have heard of that book before, though I haven't read it. It sounds a little like the one the new Julia Roberts film (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0840327/) is based on, The Friday Night Knitting Club (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Friday-Night-Knitting-Club/dp/034092294X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/203-8033146-1397546?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1183633326&sr=8-1) (though this one is probably a bit more 'chick lit').
Being into crime fiction, I rather like the look of this series (http://www.maggiesefton.com/knitting.html).
Just read The Friday Night Knitting Club last month, and I have a copy I may lend to SF knitters and can certainly bring to next Wool Baa session. Also, this morning I got a copy of the first in a series of Knitting Mystery novels by Maggie Sefton 'Knit One, Kill Two'. I'll let you know what it is like, Hecate!

I've just written 'The Friday Night Knitting Club' on my wishing list!
I haven't heard from 'Knit One, Kill Two' but the title sounds very intriguing :gag: so, up to the library...
Oh, yes, forgot to mention 'Divas don't knit' by Gil McNeil, another excellent knit based novel. You may want to look out for this one too.

Thanks, I'm on the waiting list for it now at the library's
Also for the two other books you and Hecate mentioned before.
Hecate, aren't the covers on the site you mentioned, funny?
Today I've received (via Ebay) The Joy of Knitting (http://www.perseusbooksgroup.com/runningpress/book_detail.jsp?isbn=0762414510) by Lisa R Myers. Haven't read it yet but get the impression that it's a great book too.
Finished 'Knit One, Kill Two' - really enjoyed it. Are you going to be at The Wool Baa for the next meeting? I am happy to let you borrow it, and 'Divas don't Knit' and 'The Friday Night Knitting Club' are up for loan if anyone is interested too.
I just got 'divas don't knit' from the library, but am not really enjoying it so far. i shall persevere though, for the sake of all things yarny.

Did you mean me? :) Thanks for offering.
No, unfortunately I won't come to The Wool Baa. Would love to though. One day I might be able to come and meet Jill and you all.
So I cannot come to borrow your book but I'm on the waiting list for four books with 'knitting' in the title :D including Knit one kill two. Thanks again.
Just read the second knitting Mystery novel by Maggie Sefton 'Needled to Death', a good read. I'll bring it to the next meeting for anyone interested to borrow, as the other three knitting related books were snapped up!
I've just finished The Knitting Circle - as recommended by Bami (I actually took the copy out of her hands as she returned it to the library!). I loved it - but I must admit that it made me cry a bit towards the end! (Am I just a soppy girl?) MAybe I should try one of the crime related knitting books next?
I could tell you a few horror stories relating to knitting! :o
