I lived in Hull as well and it is an OK place to live. There is many parts of it that are less then clever. Bransholme, OPE etc etc but all big cities have these areas. I'm sure Sheffield is no different in this respect.

Having travelled quite a bit, I can assure members that there are far worse places in the U.K. than Sheffield. Both up north and down south, and after visiting them I am always glad to get back home to Sheffield.

I agree ... I guess we all see our home towns with rose tinted glasses...

There's good and bad areas in all towns/cities but making a sweeping statement about a particular place is narrow minded...

My b'friend lives in Sheffield and I've got familiar with the place a bit over the past 9 months... I visit every weekend and it feels 'homey' I like your city very, very much :lol:

Yes jon youre allowed to have your opinion, and people are also allowed to oppose it, hence giving their opinion too. Rotherham isnt crap. I live there. How can it be?

Spent 2 weeks there as a kid on holiday.
The place was grim from a childs' perspective, absolutely bugger all to do. I'll never forget it.

I thought Newcastle was cool...
Hull however is not. Been there twice and it's just a depressing dump. Mansfield also is an affront to the senses.

can I add Milton Keynes. What a s**t hole, concrete cows and roundabouts...

town planners inthe 60's took lots of drugs...

locally, Mansfield, Chesterfield, Alfreton are all dumps but Rotherham wins hands down.

Has to be london for me,i know it has a few pretty things to look at,but 99% of it is a complete s**t hole

i really don't understand why hull's THE crappest town, i can think of loads of places far worse!

the old town in hull is fantastic and the humber bridge is just down the road...

it's a big city and cities always have their crappy parts, so why it was even nominated for crappiest town i don't know
