Hello all, is anyone up for this? We are arranging a collection for the South Yorkshire Flood Victim Support Appeal at the Lord Mayor's Parade and we need bucket shakers! I thought it would be a nice thing to have alongside the Children's Parade. It might not raise as much as mega concerts but it is quick and easy and people like to be able to give to a good cause at events like this.

The Lord Mayor's Children's Parade is a colourful event with fantastical costumes, puppets, lanterns and face paints with children from around Sheffield taking part. It is the largest civic event in Sheffield and the first major event in the City since the floods.

If you want to help help out then please get in touch. You will need to be available from 11:30am to 2:30pm, this Saturday, July 7th.

If you want to help out please get in touch, stating your name and contact telephone number:
email: lejasonman@googlemail.com
phone: 07956 384142

Thanks very much,

Jason

Call me pesamistic but I just don't trust anything that goes through the local council, fundraising, charity etc...If they don't use a large amount of money raised for the needy to pay for damage to the streets, clean up-operations etc I will be very suprised.

I'm all for private fundraising but anything with lord-mayor in the same sentence as fund-raising.....:suspect:

Pessamistic!!! :P The funds are being distributed by the South Yorkshire Community Fund - http://www.sycf.org.uk/ - not the council. There is always a problem with getting funds to the right place quickly enough, but looking at their website I am confident that they're not going to spend it on streetforce...
