Do you think it is at all possible for a bottle of champagne to just explode on one of the hottest days of the year without anyone tampering with it?
I think I'm being framed! Where's that damn cat. :D

I have Champagne in the pub and it didn't explode. A glass did fly off the shelf on its own though. Spooky.
I'd only taken this bottle out of the fridge and left it on the side for approx 5 mins and then I heard this loud bang. I am told that it was the difference in pressure that caused the problem and made it explode.
Not a problem I've ever encountered. I've even had champage in the freezer (and forgotten it's there on more than one occasion) and it's never exploded.
Look for air gun pellets, perhaps?

It's a mystery but one that added inconvenience to my plans. Just my luck. :(
Sorry, I can't afford champagne!!!

Nothing wrong with that but I seldom consume curry in the day. It's always night for some reason and I did think it was a little hot to be eating curry. I like the champagne on ice for some occasions.
What you celebrating hey??

I used to work in a beer warehouse (yes really) that imported beer from around the world.
We used to stock Magnums (1.5 litres) of Chimay Beer (brewed by Trappist monks in Belgium), and these were not ordered very often so were kept on the top shelves (about 25 feet up) near the corrugated ceiling.
During one particularly hot spell the temperature at ceiling level would reach upwards of 40 deg c, and now and again I would hear a muffled bang (the bottles were all in corrugated boxes) and I would be showered with warm, sweet smelling beer as I loaded beer into boxes on the shelves below.
I would come home smelling like a brewery, but this time with a perfectly good excuse.
I got paid in beer too!
These bottles, like champagne bottles, were built to withstand pressure, but they can and do blow in hot weather.

Happy belated birthday Lickszz:D
When I worked in a pub, glasses used to explode and shatter around me for no reason at all. They threatened to charge me for them if it carried on but loads of witnesses saw that I never touched them!! It was a very old pub though with other sightings of ghosts / mysterious happenings so I put it down to that. Pretty weird though!!
