View Full Version : Possible spyware
Hi,
I believe i have some spyware on my system and don't know how to remove it.
It's making my system really slow too.
When i'm on a website it underlines certain words and suggest related sites etc.
Do u have any ideas on how to remove this.
Cheers
:D
download spybot and/or adaware and run them. Install a virus checker (avg) and firewall (zone alarm) if you do not already have them.
it's a work pc so can't really download anything. I think that was the problem in the first place when i tried to get a wallpaper!
Sorted!
God damn vultures!
Cheers for your help though

Spyware Doctor is not only one of the most popular spyware removers on the market it is the best out their.
Spyware Doctor is a multi-award winning spyware removal utility that detects, removes and protects your PC from thousands of potential spyware, adware, Trojans, keyloggers, spybots and tracking threats.

Anti-virus software and firewalls do not fully protect your system against the majority of spyware and privacy threats.
Any one tells you they do!
Their full of ****e.
Do u sell Spyware doc by any chance?
U just sounded a bit like an advert.
Martin_s 09-12-2004, 13:38 Just a word of advice on a lot of this sort of....
"get it, it cleans, cooks, does the dishes, and tucks you up in bed with a story" type recommendations..
Always do a bit of digging around on google and elsewhere... the use of the keyword "review" is handy along with a little common sense filtering of who is doing the reviewing.
My thoughts exactly.
managed to sort it now though with a bit of common sense.
My computer now works at a decent speed
:D

No offense but in future it would be more effective if you actually just posted a link to the post itself rather than re-posting as if your own.
Tends to give it more weight...

Perhaps if it's that effective you'd consider rewarding the author with actual payment... I mean you wouldn't work on something if you never got paid now would you.
Aside from anything else it's worth noting that there's a high number of cracks and hacks out there that contain trojans, virii, etc...

No offence but in the Future prehaps you got off your ASS and look.
After all it will stop the repeats from nerds.
Aside from anything else its worth noting that there is a high number or cracks that contain Trojans, Virus ect. That is why we use Antivirus software lol .
Tends to stop the the majority.

Perhaps if you actually took a look at what I post on generally and realised that I already know and deal with a lot of the issues professionally you'd realise I do have a clue and get off my ass regularly.
So, thankyou for your kind suggestion but it's not necessary.
Add to that but I think you'll find the nerds (that would be programmers) are the ones you've just recommended in your post as they're the ones saving your "ass" from spyware and the like... Keep that in mind why don't you.

I can assure you, Martin provides invaluble information to people, and secondly he knows what he is doing and is a professional in the IT sector.
And has been for many years - if you do not "like" the advice - then ignore it; do not quote it and tell him to get off his a---.

I can see Invictus doing well on this forum!:suspect:. To jump in at the deep end a start slagging off a popular member is just :loopy:, lol.
Anyway, back on topic.
The subject of pc security seems to pop up (isn't there a joke there!) more and more often these days. I spend a lot of my free time 'trying' to help people with such problems on other forums.
Maybe it would be a good idea to have a 'sticky' thread like This (http://www.softwaretipsandtricks.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15972) one (shameless self plug ;)) somewhere on the forum.
I have already emailed Geoff with the suggestion but it wouldn't hurt to get some feedback from other people. I don't think it warrants it's own thread at this stage.

Turned out to be a member with multiple accounts so "Troll" is appropriate... can't believe I fed the muppet.
Anyway, back on topic.

Hmm.. well you could... at the same time, a lot of people asking for help are more than a little freaked out by the sheer amount of information out there so perhaps if you take your idea and string it one stage further and actually provide some way to list a series of articles that people could access in HTML or other form...
One of the forum communities I run hits the "threads repeating themselves" issue a lot and the solution there was to write the threads up into word documents and then update them periodically as new or relevant information was suggested.
Saved a lot of trouble :)
As a general reminder, we don't advocate the use or promotion of cracked software on the forum, so....
If you want the software, pay for it. If you don't want to pay for it, look for the functionality elsewhere. There's so much good stuff available for nothing or a song it's just not worth running the risk!
I've sent a trollogram to a particular user reminding him of this....:)
Cheers m'dears,
Joe
maybe a faq's page with faq's on various topics that come up over and over would be the answer.
Or we teach people how to use google and find the answer for themselves.
I'm always surprised that more folks don't Google.
I've had it as my home page for yonks, although I'm thinking of switching to a portal system I wrote recently to give that a bit of a workout.
But yes, that sort of FAQ would be useful.
If anyone wants to contribute, then I'll collate - tell you what, I'll open up a thread....:)
Joe
