reading this in the telegraph I was surpised by this comment;
"If it is not excessive, it is reasonable," he said. Chasing an intruder down the street, for example, and stabbing him could fall into the category of self-defence.
it's interesting because i was under the impression that that sort of action is precisely the sort of thing that is not considered to be reasonable and is therefore excessive. It is possible that he's been misquoted as the rest of the article fits with my current understanding of self defence law.
