I have a problem with getting seams on cardigans etc to lie flat when I an making up garments. Any hints?

I'm definitely not an expert seamer, but I find that blocking the pieces first so that the edges are completely flat helps. For the long seams on stocking stitch I use mattress stitch, as close to the edge as possible. This (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring04/mattress.html) Knitty article was useful.

A nice back stitch works for me

I swap between back stitch and mattress stitch. If you need a real life demo of mattress stitch at the next meet mara just let me know - that might give me the chance to get near the table......:D

I've never got the hang of backstitch, but love mattress stitch, though I've never blocked anything in my life. All seems ok so far. Jill, if I pretend to want a backstitch demo do I get a place at the table? ;)

Do I get a place, that's the question!
