A DVD recordered ourselves.
We need to be able to edit this and then import it into a powerpoint presentation. Powerpoint doesn't seem to like DVD format and can't seem to be able to get any program to download the content from the disc. :help: If anyone knows how to help or what I'm on about please let me know.

Do you not have the original material somewhere that was used to make the DVD?

I think you need to convert the DVD movie into another format that your version of PowerPoint can understand.

PowerPoint 2003, for example, can play movies (videos) in these formats:
• Advanced Streaming Format (*.asf)
• Audio Video Interleave (*.avi)
• Motion Picture Experts Group (*.mpg; *.mpe; *.mpeg)
• Windows Media File (*.wmv)

I don't think PP2003 can play Apple's QuickTime movie files (for example, *.mov), nor can it play DVD format movies.

http://www.videohelp.com/tools gives details of tools that can convert one format into another (try narrowing your search by tools that convert DVD into something else).

I believe AutoGK may convert into the right format for certain versions of PowerPoint

agreed - there are a number of threads concerning software to extract footage from dvd's

alternatively - as has been pointed out - why don;t you go back to the source material ?
