I'm new to Sheffield and living in the Eccelshall Road area. Although there are plenty of pubs nearby so far I haven't been having much luck finding any old or traditional ones- can anyone recommend any (preferably nearby) please?

The banner cross isn't bad, and always has a good guest ale on!

It's up toward the top end, after the hunters bar roundabout, quite near the Texaco garage and nobels casino - but just on'tother side of the road

You have gotta walk up a fairly big hill, but its worth it when you get there. Cant beat it for the footie and the booze is cheap. There are also quite a few old style pubs on london road, its a bit of a walk from eccy road but worth it for pubs like the cremone.

although the place itself is nothing overly special, if you're looking for somewhere closer to town the Devonshire Cat does an enormous selection of beer, whole menu to chose from!

If you cruze down eccy road the devonshire arms aint bad, its a bit of a poshish pub it seems but nice!
Also there are a load as you get out towards the peaks (going away from town on eccy road)
There is also the student area in broomhill even thought there are a load of students there re a few nice pubs I like there (nottingham house is good) and if you are willing to trek a mile then corrks has millions of 'older pubs' but that is a severe trek i warn you!! lol

In the City Centre there there are the plenty of traditional pubs worth trying:
Rutland Arms (Brown Street)
Red Lion (off Arundel Street)
Old Queens Head (Pond Hill)
Bath Hotel (off Glossop Road)
Red Deer (Pitt Street)
Grapes (Trippet Lane)
Dog & Partridge (Trippet Lane)
Frog & Parrot (Division Street)
Or venture out to the fringes of the centre for:
Fat Cat, Kelham Island Tavern, Cask & Cutler, Ship, Fagans etc.

Devonshire Arms at the bottom of Eccy Rd is ok.
Usually cheap beer and a nice pint of boddies
