SATURDAY 7th JULY

LITTLE ZE (LIVE)
DEAD WORLD LEADERS (LIVE)
ANDY NICHOLSON
CHRIS McCLURE
+ TWISTED IBIZA BEACH PARTY WITH KATE LAWLER

It’s the first Saturday of July and it’s time to crack open the party poppers to celebrate The Reverend Soundsystem’s first Birthday Bash. Bringing the live noise will be Sheffield stars LITTLE ZE and DEAD WORLD LEADERS while Ibiza queen, KATE LAWLER turns up the house with props from DREW SCOTT of Kissdafunk fame…

A year in and The Reverend Soundsystem is still going from strength to strength. Having featured DJ sets from the likes of Tony Wilson, Mani and Terry Hall (The Specials) as well as live sets from The Sunshine Underground, White Rose Movement, The Enemy, Switches, The Twang and Reverend and the Makers themselves the night has truly established itself on the face of Sheffield’s clubbing landscape.

With the Reverend recently denting the top ten with ‘Heavyweight Champion of the World’ and his repute and profile expanding there are plenty more bigger, genre smashing parties still to come. The Reverend and his clan will be in the house this evening lighting birthday candles, throwing cake and dropping all sorts of dance floor business. From indie to funk, from The Clash to Mstrkrft and anything in between it’s time to start the dance…

Kicking off proceedings will be two of Sheffield’s top live acts. Gonzo rockers LITTLE ZE are one of the best unsigned bands in the Steel City. Full stop. This hedonistic denim clad five piece make rock and roll to drink, sweat and surrender to. With tunes full of such widescreen ambition and riotous vitriol as ‘Tinpigs,’ ‘20 ft rat’ and ‘Tempest in a Teapot’ it’s criminal this lot are not yet known by a wider audience.

Live shows with these blighters is more of a religious experience at the altar of rock and roll than a bog standard gig. Like an explosion in an asylum much bigger things are still to come. Go and tell everyone Little Ze is now in charge…

Joining the live shenanigans will be DEAD WORLD LEADERS. Formed from the ashes of local heroes Daybreak, this four piece have shifted in shape and departed down a darker, harder guitar based sound to their previous incarnation.

Double a side ‘The Start of the End Begins’/ ‘Still I think what I think’ is a perfect taste of their anthem heavy indie rock. This is fast and furious guitar music with hooks sharp enough to take your ears off. You should be hearing a lot more from this boys in 2007...

Over in Neutral we have a Twisted Ibiza Beach party to rock your world. Ex-model and Big Brother contestant, and now a brilliant DJ, it’s fair to say KATE LAWLER has had her fair share of exposure, controversy and column inches. As the dust settles on her slightly tumultuous past Miss Lawler has emerged as one of the most talented and sought after female Djs on the house circuit.

Only picking up decks two years ago has meant Kate’s found her Djing skills incredibly quickly. Yet despite a sharp learning curve she’s made a massive impression on club land with striking sets loaded with bouncy electronics, tech house and minimal beats and bleeps.

She now holds down a monthly residency at Sankeys, is a regular player at Privilage in Ibiza and provides for London’s more hedonistic clubbers with a Sunday morning slot at ‘Breakfast’ at The Egg.
Now in the studio recording her own material and with a diary crammed with Djing dates her energetic set of funky electronics should ensure your Saturday night is turned upside down.

Joining Miss Lawler in raising the Plug’s roof will be Kissdafunk resident DREW SCOTT. At just 23 he’s been heralded as one of the brightest Djing stars on the house scene having played with the likes of David Guetta, Mark Knight, Dave Angello and the Trophy Twins.

He was crowned as Leeds’ best bar and Club DJ last year (an accolade voted for by the city’s clubbing community) and continues to decimate floors across the UK on a weekly basis. With trips to the Ibiza in the pipeline this lad’s also moved into the studio. His own productions have begun to take off in 2007 with his ‘Lick it’ 12 creating big waves within the house scene.
