(B). Genoside - Eccelsfield - Brightside - MeadowHall (By the Canal).

(C) Coal Aston - Ford - Eckington.

(D) Any other suggestion?

Please bear in mind, that when I suggest a walk it usually rains!!

Can't make this weekend, got workmen in. Just a suggestion Albert, but why don't you decide on a definite day, a definite route, and a definite starting and ending place?
Also, perhaps you could decide in advance to not cancel it either, come rain or shine. Just a suggestion old friend.

Because if its Raining I reckon that only Joe Soap will be at the Bus stop!!

Albert, I've changed your thread title to reflect that the walk WON'T be on Sunday... It confused me no end!

Scoobz is right, some folk will walk whatever the weather, they just like a route which has a bit more shelter (and stop-off points). Maybe a walk through woods, etc?

I can't make this weekend at all... still mopping up after the floods. :(

Just for the record, I'd walk whatever the weather - just have to remember to wear waterproofs and have some spare clothes/shoes on hand for afterwards. Weather is exciting!...

Oh, and I won't be able to make it this weekend, by the way. Enjoy your walk...

It is almost a certainty that I'm going to London on Sunday Afternoon.
So I'll leave it to someone to arrange a walk. If I don't go I can always lach- on.
If its not rain in.

Oooops I've obviously been asleep - didn't notice change of day. Will probably be up for Saturday but feel a bit uncomfortable about starting at Genoside :)

After last Sunday's walk was cancelled I did venture out by myself for a couple of hours - it was bright and sunny for a while but as soon as I got onto Sky Edge the heavens opened and I got soaked. I've uploaded a few pics from my solitary journey here http://picasaweb.google.com/neotericwalks/NorfolkHeritageTrail1July2007

Seems like a few people would be interested in a walk on Sunday if it's not too wet. The weather is so changeable at the moment so these long range (5 day) forecasts could change as well, anyone any ideas for a walk on Sunday that never far away from Dry Shelter/Public Transport?

Any one fancy the Coal Aston to Ford or Eckington walk on Saturday?
The Number 253 Bus leaves Flat Street at 10.47 am. for Chequers Inn, Coal Aston.
I'll be on it - (So have my fare ready so I'm not shown up!!).

This walk starts and leaves Coal Aston (Chequers Inn) at 11.20. via Troway - Birley Hay (Gestapo House!!) - Ford - Down past the Ponds (Moss Valley) - Eckington.
Roughly about 5 - 6 miles and mainly down hill or level.

Part of the Sheffield Walk (I believe!!) Its a nice one (or was) anyway.

No Booze

For anyone interested - Now there are only seventy one seats left on the bus.

We will walk either to Ford, Eckington, Mosbrough, Halfway, Killamarsh or finish in the Chequers at Coal Aston and do the walk next time!!!
(Don't start weeping - I'm only joking).

Just Albert and me on this one - a really lovely walk around part of "The Sheffield Way", this goes down as my first leg and I'm looking forward to doing some more stages soon.

Weather was kind - only a few spots of rain and mostly warm and sunny but it was quite muddy in places - still feeling the effects of the recent flooding.
Had a nice well earned pint of Thwaites at the Bridge Inn at Ford. I hope the 2 other walkers who we were chatting to have found their way onto the Sheffield Forum Walkers Group and perhaps are reading this post - hope to see you on one of our walks soon :)

Some pictures to look at here http://picasaweb.google.com/neotericwalks/CoalAstonFordEckington7July2007
and another walk in Graves Park tomorrow :)

Nice photos below by neoteric. Mine to follow. (When I found out, How to do it!!!).

The walk mainly followed the route of both the Sheffield Country Walk and Sheffield Country Way. Slight changes were looked for and taken, Enabling a alternative route suitable for those who have problems or difficulties walking up hills, to be established..

Whilst problems will come to light by usage, What remains now, is for someone, who has walking difficulties, to try the walks out accompanied by someone more able. Noting any practical problems as they arise and letting people know via the Forum would be appreciated.

The present walking routes which require checking out by people who have differculties walking up the hills are from:-
A). Coal Aston - Ford - Eckington.
B). Coal Aston - Dronfield - Totley
C). Burbage Bridge (Devil Elbow) - Green Drive - Fox House.
D). Fox House - Longshaw Park - Moss Road - Totley.
E). Curbar Cross Roads (Baslow Hill) - Wellingtons Monument - Eagle Stone - Curbar Gap Car Park - Footpath on Big Moor, which runs next to the road to Curbar Cross Roads. (Baslow Hill).

Please let everyone know of any problems. - Thank you.
