We have a lionhead rabbit who has a large roll of skin under her chin and was told that this is normal but it seems to be getting bigger and I can feel like a ball inside it. She also doesn't like it when I touch it. Please if anyone has any infomation I would be very grateful.

If she has a lump in her dewlap she could have an infection especially if she is grumpy if you try to touch it. Better get her to the vets for a look over just to be sure.

It could be an absess, so I would take her to the vet asap. They will drain it and give her antibiotics if caught early enough you may avoid surgery.

Good luck and hope she is feeling better soon

I hope it isn't an abcess, but as the others have mentioned a trip to the vets is of paramount importance. I don't want to be a scaremonger, but abcesses in rabbits are notoriously hard to treat, so the sooner it's caught, the better.

Good Luck :)

Get her to the vets, it could be an abscess. Is there any puss coming from her dewlap? (near to where you can feel the 'ball'?)

As everyone else has said a trip to the vets is in order. Take your credit card, because you might need it. Rabbits are expensive to treat.

how old is she and is she speyed? Unspeyed maturing females tend to grow dewlaps as the reach puberty (speying early prevents this full stop). The lump is most likely fat, is it dimply like breast tissue?

Is she overweight especially around her tummy?

Have her checked in case it is a tumour or cyst (more likely than an abcess in this area) but it could well be perfectly normal tissue development.
