Am forking out a few quid (£1200+) on a new PC and found a pretty good deal online - i'm intending to pay by switch. What should i make sure i do in case things happen to go pear-shaped? the company is based in scotland and is a small independent computer retailer
Have you had any problems with faulty goods that you've bought online and what advise would you give in hindsight? did(can) you claim your money back?
I would pay be credit card, that way your insured (with Barclaycard you are anyway) if things go Pete Tong.
do not pay by switch. If you do and something goes wrong it's going to be very difficult to do anything.

ok i'm assuming here but is it because Switch is a debit card as oppose to a credit card where there is more of a presumption for recourse?
precisely. Switch is pretty much the same as paying by cash.
Credit cards are precisely that an extension of credit from some company.
In the event of paying by credit card and non-delivery or the company going bust the credit card company is equally liable to you. It gets quite complex, look up the consumer credit act for details.
But basically in the event of the worst happening, you'll get your money back.
It even extends so far as things like the machine dying in 6 months and the company having disappeared, your credit card company should arrange a repair or replacement in that case.
cheers cyclone - i will now purchase with me Barclaycard - this forum can be reyt useful!
