My lovely neighbour has asked me to show her how to knit. Today she proudly tells me she has bought some wool - it seems to be acrylic, knits on 4mm needles (thickish DK) and 92m/50g..she has 2 balls (its lilac and doesnt seem too bad for acrylic - nice and soft with a little 'fluff' type effect). Now I was thinking ribbed scarf - but would that be enough yarn? Any other suggestions?

if you've got some bigger needles you could do a feather and fan scarf, open and floaty, altho this might be a bit of an advanced design if she's just starting?

What about a little purse for a mobile phone, or bevs basic hat?

What about a draw up bag? Straight up and down with a turn over top so you can run a cord through it and draw it up? Like a wash bag.
