He while we're at it how about Def Leppard?
Seriously though I think HallamFM has heard there's a gig being planned - I e-mailed Big John's breakfast show and he mentioned it....

Would be cool if you could get all sheffield bands/singers to do it as a tribute to the sheffield people.

Who does one contact to find out about venues etc that are prepared to get involved? Would the sheffield city council be the best bet? Is it worth contacting Calendar etc, I'm happy to help if someone who's in the know wants to give it a shot at seriously doing this.:D

Human league, Pulp, def lepoard etc who else started in Sheffield and is in need of a charity gig to bost there sales at the mo?

Bonny

One local band has already announced they're doing a benefit gig on August 4th. This is just them at the moment though.

It'd be great to get quite a few different bands together - local talent, maybe Sean Bean will help by introducing the event? There's lots of people in Sheffield who are high profile enough to make this a huge success and a 'must be there' event.

I'll have a word with a few people I know, see if they can offer any help. If so, i'll let you know.

Katie1980

How about finding a venue and a date first, I'd sugges teh City Hall being central and all.
Then start approaching people who can perform, find people to do front of house, backstage, techs, event planners etc and start co-ordinating the management team (I might be able to help somewhat, perhaps in publicising).
Then you need to get publicity , designed printed, paid for and then put out, that's easy enough but you still need to be working in a co-ordinated manner.

Bonny
29-06-2007, 21:55
Cheers Diva  I just couldn't think of their name (sorry)!

Spot on Zebra! I too think the City Hall would be the most suitable and appropriate venue.

Anyone else interesting in helping get this off the ground? All you undercover superstars out there on SF, PM me if you want to volunteer to be included - go on, you know you want to :D

Could that be done, I wonder? Get some food and drinks arranged for afterwards - might b a good evening?

I offer it to the floor as an idea to run with - I'm afraid I'm a bit otherwise engaged. :)

If it could be made to pay, that would be fantastic!

it might be worth anyone who knows anyone in these bands to help.
Especially The Beautiful South, seeing as their last ever gig was played in Sheffield and all Paul's connections and the fact that Hull is also suffering. Does anyone go to the footie with Paul?

i think its best to get the bands first then the size up the venue and staff as you may only get 2 bands so a pub gig or 15 so the Sheffield arena or city hall

because i now live in devon and really struggle for transport to get up there, i have not been able to help any flood victims including my own family. as you can imagine i have been very worried but also felt a bit crap that there was nothing i could do. could you please let me know if this charity gig kicks off as i would buy a few tickets as long as its going back to the people of sheffield. i know it wouldn't be much but its about all i can do. believe me if i could do more i would. is there a specific fund set up for the flood victims as yet that we can donate to? i really do hope that everyone is safe now and that those who lost can rebuild. i really wish i could be there. lisa

Hey, me and my collegue were gonna do 1 with major artists and dj's the only problem is we cant find a venue big enough that will let us use it for free or by them taking a percentage of ticket profits. if anyone knows of any that might could you please let me know via my email Natz@allthatpromotions.co.uk it's a volentary company so we wont be getting anything out of it hence why we cant pay for a venue. Also if anyone would like to team up and do 1 big gig/concert type event we could probs sort summat out

What an interesting idea!

I don't know whether there's a script, etc. available for the production - have to say that teh main reason I thought of teh film was that the Showroom does do evenings where you can get a 'favourite film' put on for a small fee.

What about 'Singing in the Rain!' seriously, will buzz thenm tomorrow to ask, However...........

Does it have to be the full script though, in the film the men actually only perform the one dance routine!

Also what about the Ladies who did the Naked Calendar! 12 women posing for a photo each subtlely covered by iten such as flood warning sign/rubber ring etc. If someone was prepared to print at cost/free....I bet that could be done. Plus get publicity!:D
