Jill, did you say that we were looking thinking about making the last Wednesay of the month a knitting group meet?

If so, that'll be Wednesday 25th July. (by my calculations)

Will that be ok? Will you be able to host it again?

Will knitters be able to make it?

Tut, PlainTalker steals my one contribution to the knitting group meeting :( . I might just have to delete this thread and start my own ;) .

Im hoping to get to this one (it all depends on whether hubby is in Wells although I could bring the boys as they have finished school then I think). Hopefully by then I should be a bit better company and have restarted knitting again:roll:

I'd love to make it to one of the meetings, but I don't think my son would be impressed

If I can time it so someone is home to stay with him for a few hours i'll pop along, is there room for a spinning wheel?

I can't wait. It will be great to have something to work towards and gives me a kick up the rear to do something other than stare out of the window at the rain!

It's 7 pm. I don't make it up to Sheffield very often (I'm an ex-pat Sheffielder exiled in Leicestershire), but I know Jill and the others will make you very welcome.

That's reminded me. It's time to make the thread sticky :) .

Is this open to anyone? I'm living in Sweden, but am spending my vacation in Sheffield this summer and will be there on the 25th, and would love to meet some fellow knitters! (Needless to say, my needles will be with me!) :) If it is open to everyone, where is it?

I'm definitely coming. I go to Germany tomorrow and return on 22nd. I hope to find some knitting bits and pieces because the Germans are into their knitting. I'm already looking forward :)

Yes, I'm coming. I'm going to try and bag one of the travelling spinning kits :)
I've also got a new thingy for making braid - it's called a lucet, has anyone heard of one before? Not sure how much use it'll be but it's quite fun and dead easy!

Would there be room for another one tomorrow evening? I've realised I'm free and was thinking I might venture out from the wilds of Deepcar to come and do some knitting. Hopefully I'll make it!

You are more than welcome! Could be one of those "standing room only" nights though! Still, we never let that bother us - they just make me sit on the floor. Bring a cushion and be on the safe side:D

By the time I get the key out of the door the throng has already sailed past and taken all the spaces leaving me to person the refreshments.....
I may get there early and come through the back door. By the time I let the hoards in the fron door this should mean I can double back in front of everyone else and have the pick of the seats:D

You so make me laugh! :hihi: It's like January Sales innit on a Wednesday night with you??!!

What if you meet yourself coming the other way? You'll have to be quick. We may have to do like they do at wimbledon and bring our tents. People might give us money as they wait to cross at the lights - we could spend the said money on wool! I'm rambling now! Night night!!

The boys were fine. Bound to get a bit over-excited in a wool shop - it's in the genes:D
Ruth made the cake and it was indeed very yummy. Hope she comes next time......:) I'll have a word.....

Thanks from me too Jill, you are keeping me as sane as is possible by being so wonderful! Thanks so much for hosting the meetings.

Sorry I didn't get to chat to Ruth this time, do come back? Got stuck at far end and too tired to move far...

Hoping for a knitting morning today, not so much pain and only tingling not numbness, so will try a row or two. If not have buttons to sew on cardigan and bag handle to finish and attatch, so won't be bored.

Yet again another brill evening! Ta very much Jill for being our hostess with the mostess. These "lock ins" are getting to be a bit of a habit. :partyhat: Great to see the usual faces, and smashing to see some new ones. Lovely to meet you Rachel and to say you are from another planet, you hid your other two legs very well - hope you enjoyed it and see you again next time? Jill I thought your hairpiece was fantastic - every girl (and hubby) should have one! :headbang: Thank you for offering to rent me a cube, but I'm in talks with JL at the moment, so will let you know. I learn something every meet, and last night I learnt not to argue with Jill while she had a knife in one hand and a coffee & wallnut cake in the other!

I'm excited because I learned to spin! I don't want to be at work now, I want to be at home turning bits of fluff into yarn :) Maybe I should bring it into work for those quiet moments waiting for patients to arrive...
Thanks to Caroline for the spinning bag, and Jill for the venue and refreshments!

Thank you Jill, it was good to see you actually get to sit down and knit this time. We invade your shop, leave crumbs all over the floor and usually pinch all the seats so you have to sit at the counter. You make the tea and then get to wash up and clean the floor afterwards. We should just call you Cinderella.

Thanks Jill for hosting us again. I had a great evening and my niece enjoyed herself too! I'm impressed with Jill's first Brioche throw, but I think the second one is even more beautiful. It's become an unofficial knitalong.

Becky, I've just been spinning some green fluff. I have a little tip, not sure if it will be of much help, but I discovered it myself..... You know when you let your fluff out and it "pings" into yarn? Well, it you get a lumpy bit, it sometimes helps if you twang it (like a guitar) and often that makes your lumpy bit reduce! :D

Gosh you're way ahead of me! I know I should have brought it into work...
Mind you, it won't look too good to the patients if I look like I've been wrestling sheep before scanning them :hihi:

Had a busy week - and only just got round to doing this... but it was nice to meet people at the Wool Baa last week - and to put faces to "user names". (I must admit that I had formed some images in my head of what people might be like from their user names - and I was way out in some cases - but it is nice to know what people really look like!)

Hopefully I will make it again - but not in August as I'll be in sunny Spain (and possibly knitting - or more likely sampling the red wine!!).

The pink jumper is progressing - but isn't finished yet... the little one demanded / requested some clothes for her doll so I've been having a go at them!

Be careful about mixing the two - I managed to spill red wine on a baby cardigan I was knitting for a friend :o It was only a few drops fortunately, and it mostly came out :hihi:
