The animals aren't yours- you're just looking after them like when you babysit for a friend before handing them to their rightful owners. The day you believe that the animal is yours you've lost all perspective and letting go is seriously hard work. I've only kept one of the kittens I've hand reared and brought another 3 home from the shelter in the last 7 years.
