el vino 29-06-2007, 12:56 PM another reason for coming down - which James has modestly failed to mention - is that it will be his 30th birthday on that very day (it's mine on the 3rd so we'll both be expecting lavish gifts!)
yes, just over 30 years ago to the day (07.07.77) a boy was born into this world on and so it was that many years later he would create a night celebrating the marvel that is the 7" record!!
7 djs playing seven 7" singles!!
come down and see how this simple idea has become one big excuse for a right good knees-up! :hihi:
KidPhunk 29-06-2007, 03:23 PM your looking good for 29 fella :)

'tis true. I was born on the 7th day of the 7th month in the year 1977. Not only that, I also have size 7 feet (although I often have to buy size 8s as my feet are very wide. They look like paddles)

James7x7 05-07-2007, 11:22 PM Haven't started thinking about what to play yet. Will have to dig out some of my best summer 7s. Unfortunately, I don't own my all time favourite summer tune on 7-inch.
While I think about mine, what are your all time top summer seven 7"s?
markichamp 06-07-2007, 12:39 AM hola, summer 7's hmm
summer evokes memories more than any season for me so.
-Allez Les Bleus, Allez La France - french football anthem (1984 euro championships), my uncle bought it me back from a school trip to paris
-Sunshine Reggae - laid back, cheesy holiday memories travelling on ferries, never realised that WHite horse was on the otherside
-everybody loves the sunshine - roy ayers, just cos
-93 till infinity - souls of mischief - (break out the cooler)
-life is life - opus (again summer holidays)
-one of these days - neil young (summer working in spain cooking in a kitchen playing this over and over in the heat, hitting the tropical chipitos)
-voodoo ray - guy called gerald (spent a summer sitting in my friends garden smoking his mums cigs, listening to this over and over)
DelMonte 06-07-2007, 01:15 AM -93 till infinity - souls of mischief - (break out the cooler)
hell yeah :)
Matrix Minds 06-07-2007, 10:24 PM So hey, firend of mine has asked if I want to go down to the event on saturday but I have my 8, almost 9 year old son. How appropriate is the event afternoon/ early evening for kids or is that a no go?

Hi Matrix Minds. Kids are welcome in the afternoon/early evening. My 6 month old will be there (the grandparents are looking after him in the evening - hooray!). A few those playing in the afternoon are the kids of Seven by 7 regulars. We did a Seven by 7 party for a friend's wedding last year and these kids rocked the party. We had find a way to have 'em back.
Matrix Minds 07-07-2007, 12:31 PM Ok, that's great thanks, lets hope the weather gods are smiling :D
James7x7 07-07-2007, 02:10 PM OK. Here's my top summer 7"s:
1. Beach Boys - Good Vibrations (no explanation necessary)
2. Chic - San Paulo (b-side to dance dance dance is a laid back summer groove)
3. Booker T and the MGs - Soul Limbo (my perfect summer sunday - lager, olives, sunday papers and TMS on the radio)
4. Liberty - girl you'd better wake up (not to keen on vocal on this blue-eyed soul track, but the instrumental will be getting a play this afternoon)
5. Erykah badu - on and on (summer in sydney remix) (cheeky bootleg using quincy jones' version of summer in the city)
6. Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon (someone must have done stretched out re-edit of this)
7. Stardust - Music Sounds better with you (tune of the summer in 1998 )
