Hi everyone who can get to their computers.

Just wanted you all to know that I'm thinking of you and hope that if you are caught up in the flood drama that you are at least well, material things can be replaced eventually. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you turra21 that means a lot. :)

Turra, I've changed your title a little just to make it clear that it's part of the knitting group. The lack of knitting content in your post is absolutely fine in this context, but it ran the risk of getting moved to the Flood section of SF.

My mum and the rest of the family in Sheffield have been extremely fortunate in that they've all been relatively unaffected by the flooding - they live on hills. With the exception of worrying about the power cuts, they've been fine, if a little damp.

SF has been a great help for getting all the latest info for my internet-less mum and passing it on to her. Much better than the other local media, apparently.

Thanks for asking Turra21. As Hecate's family we also live higher and have been very lucky too.

Well I live in Barnsley thank God but work in Deepcar so I've certainly suffered with the M1 and local road closures. I spent an hour at a stand still on the Stocksbridge Bypass this morning on a piece of road that usually takes 30 seconds to drive on just to get to work. I'm on an Industrial Estate right next to the river so it was scary at one point and we thought we would have to sleep over in the office on Monday night but didn't have to...I'm one of the lucky ones and I feel so awful for the people who have lost their homes, families and possesions due to the flood. All I've lost is a few hours to traffic.

It did make me think though about what I would try to rescue if my house flooded and my yarn stash was one of my first thoughts! I'm glad they're in the room upstairs out of the way. I wondered if contents insurance covers yarn? :)
