I think it sounds like a great event, other than to say I think the entry is a little expensive.

Given the rain, is this planned to still go ahead?

I walked round graves park at around 7pm with the dog. was chatting with some of the blokes that was putting fences and tents up and up until that time "it was still on unless it got flooded out". The ground was very, very boggy.
I hope it is still on though, cos from what we saw them setting up it looks like its going to be great!

If you plan to go to this today be prepared to get wet and muddy. The park is very wet underfoot at the moment.

The BBC weather 24 hour forcast has the sun coming out by 10am and staying out all day , so hopefully people should be fine with good footwear.

Just got back from the park, where the sun was shining. My kids had a great time, trying out all the different walls and caving etc. the fairground rides were a bit pricey, but there was plenty to do that was free as well. The young lads doing the parkour display was very good, my 2yr old kept asking for a go at it(bless him)We`ll be going tomorrow if the weather stays like this.

Me and my missus went up, with our son in law and grandson, and we had a nice time. It's the first one of its kind and was let down a bit by the threatening weather, so it wasn't packed, as it might have been in hot weather, but definitely worth going. I do think though, that if entry had been free, it would have had loads more people from outside the local area and outside the climbing community. I realise that might not be possible though.

I went. Hardly any mud at all. Thought it was great. Lots of the stuff is in tents anyway.

Good day! Junior bouldering championships on tomorrow, be prepared to get hacky shoes though. :) Very soggy underfoot

14 years and under are free which is fair enough, fiver for the old farts

I think we should all say a big 'well done' to Heason Events for organising this event. Hope it's bigger and better next year - and maybe better weather too :)

Well done Matt, you pulled it off

Agreed. Bad weather aside, I think there are some improvements to be made, but overall a fine first effort. Cheers Matt Heason and all who helped get it off the ground.

Many thanks for all the feedback. Always appreciated - good or bad.

Yep, the weather gods were not exactly helpful, though it was nice to finish off the Saturday in proper summer sun. Sunday was hard work though. Seems that those who came had a great time on the whole.

Will keep you posted as to plans for next year. In the meantime if anybody has any more feedback please feel free to post it here or email it directly (matt@heason.net).

Thanks,
Matt

I think maybe one entry fee for both days (assuming it can't be free entry, whioch would fetch a lot more folk in).
The stalls which were at the bottom (bushcraft etc) should be at the top. You should walk through/past all the traders and exhibition stalls to get to the main events, with the fairground rides and beer fest being at bottom of the field.
The scoring rules for the bouldering comp should be posted on a big board as well as in the programme, to make it easy for non-climbers to follow.
You should get some mtb trials lads doing their tricks - always gets people interested. The ones who were at the cycle racing in Pinstone St last year were brill.
Showing clips of some of the films outside the film tent would pull the crowds in.
More bushcraft stuff - maybe some chainsaw sculpture going on as an aside.
More MUSIC! Sam doing his DJing is ok but get a stage and some local bands on. That's bring a whole load of new people along. Mind you, I understood that the Music in the Park gig was meant to be up there?
How about an outdoor gear 'car boot sale' where people can pay for a pitch and sell their unwanted kit?
A proper bungee jump off a BFO crane!
A bog-snorkelling comp (well, it's an outdoor pursuit!): easy to set up I reckon.
As well as bouldering champs, how about some non-league comps, such as a just-for-the-day speed climbing comp. Get the veterans involved - maybe try and get some climbing names the public at large might know?
A 'death-slide' zipwire right down the field.
Get J. Dawes to do a no-handed climbing display.
I didn't see any slacklining. Did i miss it?
I'm crap on overhangs. Build a fake roof and offer training tips.
