This issue of players heading balls and dying at a relatively young age, has been raised before. I won't steal that poster's thunder but the point is valid, in particular with the balls used at that time. Players, especially centre-halfs and centre-forwards, have either passed away or are suffering from dementure of one type or another. As yet, all we read is that Dougan died suddenly, but I certainly think there is something in that theory, especially when those balls became wet, they were more like medicine balls!
