I'm thinking of buying a house in either F.Park or Beighton, but don't know either area much. Can anyone tell me what they're like to live in, how safe they are, & what the area is like for walking dogs? Thanks.

Beighton without a doubt, near country park and very pretty, good schools for young children.

Neither!

If you want "affordable" housing, go for S6/S7/S8 not S3/S4/S5.

Since when has Beighton been in S3/S4/S5?

I don't know Beighton but Firth Park is very good, lots of open space (not just Firth Park but Concord which includes a lot of open space and woodland) a good local shopping centre and good Public Transport links.

No it is in Woodhouse actually but is called Beighton Tip. They don't tip there now, infact a planning application is on the table for the tip to be capped so that it can be developed.

Lived at Firth park for 7 years and my Mum has lived in Beighton for about 10 years.

Based on that if you want my opinion, Beighton without a doubt.

Good luck.

\Beighton is nicer with good walks for dogs in Rother Valley Park, so long as you clean up after your dog Please, iedal if you go jogging / good area to do it in

Im from the Beighton end of town, i find it to be fine. Try Halfway where im from., the property is much more pricier but you get what you pay for. The area is very saught after and selling is easy. There's not a 'Chav' problem either..its very quiet.

I used to live in Firth Park up to 2 years ago (for over 20 years) and although I think the area isn't as bad as alot on here would have you believe I would be inclined to go with the others and say Beighton. I don't know the area but it seems nice from what I have seen. As has already been said it's close to the countryside, Rother Valley and Crystal Peaks and seems more rural and less urban to me.

Beighton is a nice area but it does take a while to get into town during the rush hour.

Could someone please tell me what a 'chav' is? And the areas I would need to avoid these in??

Its a funny one is this, Chav originated from the Boy Racer scene, you know the type, Gold Chains (Elizabeth Duke of course) Fake Burberry caps, Vauxhall Novas/Citroen Saxos with rediculous shopping trolleys welded to the back of them. Basically Twits.

'Chav' now seems to have evolved to into meaning young vandals who smash up bus shelters and enjoy taking part in any kind of ASB.

Its an interesting development of the term:suspect:

Hope that helps.

BEIGHTON definately. I moved here 6 years ago - there is a village post office, restaurants, Crystal Peaks shopping centre, trading park with retail outlets, tram stop, bus station, private gym, plenty of pubs, good takeaways and Rother Lakes (3 miles around) for country dog walking. Doesn't seem too bad for crime either.

Need I say more?!

According to a survey last year, Beighton is one of the most Under valued places to live in Britain. I.E. housing is underpriced for what you get in the area, Good Schools, shops, transport links etc
