He recons he can beat Richard Whiteley's time...... vidster 05-12-2004, 19:46 I love top gear!!!!! Take my hat off to the blind guy. He beat Whitely and Wogan with a time of 2m 02 sec  to Billy Baxter. Strix 05-12-2004, 19:49 That's an expensive blackboard!!! And the kitchen door handle!!! On a Porche?? And the electrics on that armchair???? WallBuilder 05-12-2004, 22:50 I'm by no means a car enthusiast but find I do make the effort to watch Top Gear, Okay it has it's boring moments like when they're raving on about yet another over priced, over powered thing that to me just looks like many other things. I like the bits of humour they manage to incorporate and the truly amazingly mad things they do with a car slant. Jeremy driving up a mountain or people carrier racing and my all time favorite trying to find out how much punishment a toyota truck could take before refusing to run, I think that one beat them!!! vidster 05-12-2004, 22:55 I notice the truck and it's plinth have disappeared?. I have to agree about the humour and the totally crazy things they get up too. I liked the one where Jeremy drove to Scotland and back on one tank of fuel and the one where they raced to France. dinp 05-12-2004, 22:56 He beat Whiteley's time, AMAZING. I think he'll have to come back on and prove his worth again now! The toyota truck thing was amazing, the restoration rip-off is the only part of the programme I dont really enjoy. Hammond and May in a Smart car 2 weeks ago was class :) venger 06-12-2004, 08:34 As mentioned, it is a quality show where you do not even have to like cars. The one where the Lotus was chased by an Apache helicopter was also class! One of the few times I ever turn the TV on, other than films! missymoo73 21-08-2011, 18:29 I've used this thread rather than starting another one seen as the title says it all really :) Just watching Top Gear and I have to say of all the stupid things these guys do they have reached their finest moment today. How on earth did they manage to get n the road legally and drive those stupid "mobile homes" You have a break light off etc etc but yet they can get on the roads and drive those dangerous things. Rant over missymoo73 21-08-2011, 18:58 ok Rant not over I used to love top gear but its reached an all time low for me (and before someone say switch it off I am watching with someone who wants to watch the crap!) Its not even funny - its predictable - he knew he couldnt get under the petrol station but no had to drive into it although the other 2 were screaming at him saying noooooooooooooooooooooo Then guess what - hammond set something on fire - shock horror ! Thrown it over the cliff - smart oh and funny - NOT and Jezza didnt know that was gunna happen noooooo not at all FFS Complete waste of money. Bladesman 21-08-2011, 19:13 Ah that was quality episode and it was an old one from last year. The more recent series of Top Gear over the summer was rather good. saxon51 21-08-2011, 19:28 Top Gear has turned into the Jeremy Clarkson and 'Dick' Hammond 'Look At How Funny We Are' Show. And how god-damn awful and cringe-worthy is that 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' slot?:gag: James May, however, looks as though he can present a decent programme .... given a chance. missymoo73 21-08-2011, 19:41 Ah that was quality episode and it was an old one from last year. The more recent series of Top Gear over the summer was rather good. I thought it finished last week - he made me watch an old one - grrrrrr wait till i see him next   Quality ???? I must be losing it :( I used to love top gear but they have taken it to an all time low missymoo73 21-08-2011, 19:42 Top Gear has turned into the Jeremy Clarkson and 'Dick' Hammond 'Look At How Funny We Are' Show. Clarkson is up his own ass. Hammond hasnt been the same since his crash - where the bloody hell it that styling coming from :help: May- I do like him so yes I agree. I did like the series he did with Oz Clarke about wine - that was really funny :) saxon51 21-08-2011, 19:52 James May did 'Toy Stories', 'Big Ideas', 'On The Moon', 'Things You Need To Know' and '20th Century', plus the drinks programme with Oz Clarke as mentioned, all great and informative programmes which I watch over and over again. Hammond did lots but none worth watching in my opinion. Clarkson's sole offering to my 'Must-watch' list was his 'Great Britons' tribute to my childhood hero Isambard Kingdom Bunel. |
