I have a feeling the coming season may be Wenger's last at Arsenal.

Unless they make some big signings, they haven't got a chance of competing for the title.

£16.2M for 4 year contract, So how can they justify a £17M price tag on D Bent? :loopy:

I guess Henry's age, increased injury proneness and the fact that he seems to only want to go to Barca depressed the fee.

I'd have thought so, as if nothing else (despite what they have besides), what a bench to have if two of those are there, just in case!

I'm not sure if Eto'o and Henry would be a perfect match, but given their respective talents, I'm sure they'd work it out.

Messi is simply astonishing. As we missed out on Maradona, I'm looking forward to his unveiling at the Lane if he is surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp :hihi:

Not only have they lost the best player to ever pull on an Arsenal shirt, Wenger will now follow as will Fabregas. This however is only the start! What pulling power will Arsenal now have?
How many players have actually signed for Arsenal solely because of the presence of Henry and Wenger? With Henry now gone and with others set to follow, which 'world class' player will actually want to sign for them now? None is the answer. Losing Henry could have serious repercussions for Arsenal, the first one being not finishing in the top 4 meaning no Champions league football (money from this relied on to pay for the newly built stadium)! That spot will now go to Spurs who i feel will now catch and overtake Arsenal as the best team in North London!

Hmmmm in a team that was relegated!!! and that was in the premiership was it not? I believe he scored 20+ in all competitions but i may be wrong!
In a team in the top half, or even better top 4, Bent IMO would probably achieve 20 premiership goals easily. Looks like Spurs have him now anyway so we will see and with Bent and Berbatov (the B & B) leading their line, Arsenal IMO can forget even qualifying for the Champions League next season!

A mixed blessing for English football really: the loss of someone who lit up the PL like no other, a travesty that he never won 'World Player of the Year', against the fact that this makes Arsenal vulnerable and maybe the first four places aren't such a formality.

One note of warning for those predicting the end of Arsenal though, they will hand back Baptista and sell Reyes, which will give them a very large pot of money to spend if they find the right player.

I dont think seeded teams (Barcelona+Arsenal are two of them) can be drawn together in the preliminary groups

I think any bookie in the land would give odds of about 1'000'000/1, they are both seeded lol

Because English teams overall have done really well in the champions league in the last few years, teams score very highly just for finishing 4th in the prem. Additionally, both Arsenal and Liverpool have reached the final in the last two years while Chelsea have got quite close a number of times.

Its a real shame he's left but for Arsenal to progress I think he had to go. He wouldn't have signed a new contract so 18.8m is better than sweet fa next summer. The only problem now is if all the other players start thinking the club laxks ambition and alos want to jump ship
