I have, but the only people I ever seem to get talking with don't live in Sheffield. Or they do and are taken.

Because theres so much stigma associated with it. When big girls go out, unless you have an incredibly thick skin it can be awful.

You sound pretty normal to me, at that dress size, you're a tall, slender girl. It's the measurements that count, not the labels!

I think sizes have got smaller these days. I see quite normal looking women on TV saying with a straight face that they're a size 4 or 6 ... Charley on BB for instance said the other night that she was a size 4/6 ... and yet if I'd been asked I'd have said about a 10, and making allowances for the fact that TV adds weight maybe an 8?

We all feel like that when we start a thread for a social event. People would post if they were interested and then you can see what the level of interest is. You can always cancel it if no-one seems to want to go along.

I tried starting one of these about 1 1/2 years ago and Mingdom (dare I say it) were very welcoming. Didn't like the fact though that the meet in her diary said "Fat Friends", but it was on tv at the time. It was quite cheap to hire the side room too - I'm sure that they'd go for this - it was less the more people that were interested.

I realise that, but as I live at the other end of Sheffield, and the meets are usually mid week, it's not that easy, especially if I want to stay out for a while. Getting home is a right pain at that time of night.

I'm also not as financially sound as I was a while ago, so have to limit my nights out. Haven't been out on a Saturday for months!
