hey up

i was wandering if u cud help.....how do ya know if the pains (that arnt that painful) are braxton hicks or the start of labour?

i started with pains this morning across my tummy and then i had tightenings.....nothing too bad, my back has ached all day and ive had the odd sharp pain in my pubic region shooting down whislt walking round mothercare.

ive got home and ive got the odd pains thru my belly, they have stopped at the moment but my back ache is still there.

ive had movements from the baby, nothing huge, jus odd kicks and gettin comfy i think.

wat are all ur opinions? i know ur not midwifes but i jus thought i wud ask what happened with you lot :)

im 38 weeks on sunday

It wouldn't hurt to ring the midwife.

Are the pains or the backache getting worse at all??

back ache could be a bit of a give away....have you had a show yet?

edit to add - reread your post. i had shooting pains when i had a show as i went into early labour. contractions felt like braxton hicks crossed with mildly uncomfortable period cramps before later settling into very uncomfortable period cramps and back ache.

oh. babybaby has just started wailing again, despite having been put to bed half an hour ago. i'd recommend holding your baby in for as long as possible to avoid the wailing.

I have been getting braxton hicks for a while, 6 weeks. gets more painful as it baby gets bigger. and when it gets solid/hardness is not good. but then soon relaxes. & the babys head is under the ribs, that doesnt help. so im kind of suffering everyything, backache. heartburn. and feeling in my bum sometimes. (strange)
Im 35 weeks &3 days. in the last few weeks the baby turned breech. Im seeing m/wife on monday. to see if anything has happened. if not think im going to go for scan, or see if they can turn itround.
seems to be lots of moans there.

ME too! 36 weeks! hospital on sun to mon in agony and then it stopped-didnt even have the decency to come out! how rude! Doc put it down to irritable womb and bed rest-yeah right with a 22m old! came home, sat exam on tues in agony and feel pooh again today.
Keep getting contractions and timing them and then they stop! i can see this bambino is going to be a pain!
good luck to everyone else in same position xx

MY husband thinks I only get braxton hick when Im doing something physical/or moving around. & when Im relaxed it doesnt happen.
I dont really agree with what he says.

Sounds like head-fitting pains and maybe onset of labour.

Hi Sazk
I can understand how impatient you are feeling.
I am now 4 days late and to be honest it is driving me mad! (Not helped by the fact that I have gained 3, yes 3 stone and it's killing me....I want her out now!)

I have had the back pains, period type cramps, pubic pains, braxton hicks, dia...diore...diarr...(how do you spell it?)....the runs and last night got really nauseous. Each time I think... "oh! this could be it", but no!

Anyway, don't know about you but I'm off for a hot bath whilst drinking raspberry leaf tea followed by a hot curry with a side serving of pineapple.

good luck, keep us posted.:roll::help::confused:

ive had no probs since that sunday either-bet i go term now grrrrrrr! i want it out NOW! just got some more raspberries and pineapple and some lady just told me castor oil-although dont fancy that

Castor oil is only recommended because it's a general irritant, so it makes everything cramp- including your bowels.

Doesn't sound like too much fun having labour and bowel cramps at the same time to me...
