hi,

Im interested in studying to be a teaching assistant / nursery assistant and looking really for any advice on the training, where i can do it, if i can do it at home possibly??

at the minute im a full time childminder and wanting to study for this for the future when my kids are in full time school.

any info appreciated :)

i know 2 people that did the course at parson cross college full time, and both passed and are now working in local schools close to where they live.

how long was the course and what was it. there's so many different courses, im just wanting to do a basic nursery/teaching assistant then build my was up. also does it matter what age as im now 28?

i will contact my mates tonight and ask, i think the course lasted for 2 years, dont take it thats right cos im not sure. i do know they both went from school but i do remember them saying there were all ages there.

Cant help with specifics but do not wory at all about the age thing. Im 27 and have just started training to be a teacher. You will probably find there are more people your own age than there are school leavers. Good Luck.

Agree dont worry about age thing, I was at Sheffield collage when I was in my late 30's re child care course and got a job working there soon after

i did nvq 3 teaching assistant course at dinnington college they were brilliant highly recommended

parson cross is closed now and all the courses are now in hillsborough .
