View Full Version : Stock transfer council housing in sheffield chrisg 04-12-2004, 12:18 what do you think about ALMO and stock transfer where is our tenant advisor for sheffield. when will they be appointed for us. MovingOn 06-12-2004, 07:02 Hi Chris I think this housing stock transfer is the same across the board. Our council in Selby is currently transferring the housing stock to a Housing Association, and at a pitiful price too. Wish we had the option of buying the house at the same price the Housing Association are paying. I reckon we'd find the money somehow. Okay, the Housing Association have to invest and completely update the properties transferred to them, but it's still a ridiculous price and I can't help but think that the service will go downhill too. chrisg 06-12-2004, 10:16 Thanks for you info Is your Tenants Association going through this Stock transfer process what problems have you had. regards chris. Since the estates started being managed by Sheffield Homes, the letting process has gone downhill. Under the new system a couple with one baby who have been on the list for 13 months and want a 3 bedroom house rather than a 2 bedroom house will get priority over a couple with 2 or 3 children living in a 2 bed house who have been on the list for only 12 months. Under the old system a couple with one child would have only been offered a 2 bed house. MovingOn 07-12-2004, 10:25 It's all in the early stages, the stock transfer hasn't been made YET, but it's only a matter of time. I believe the tenants association has welcomed the move because of the amount properties that need updating, and the amount that would need investing is quite large. The council did give us all the pros and cons of every option, but the leaflet they sent out waxed lyrical about ALMOs and Housing Associations and there was no information about the council's side, or what they can do if things go wrong. Although my right to buy will be retained, the housing association takeover means that if I swap my home for another area, I will probably not be offered the right to buy there. It's barmy! MovingOn 07-12-2004, 22:12 I was supposed to receive a visit today from a house valuer to have the accommodation assessed, he didn't turn up. Nor did he manage to get next door either. Ignorant if you ask me. They phoned up this afternoon requesting if they could reschedule BEFORE Christmas... Yeah, like they have a chance of doing that!!! |
