Hello,

I am looking for more information regarding a company located at 11 Carver Street, Sheffield 1, England.

The company name was Sportex Fishing Tackle Co.Ltd.

You have probably guessed it, I am a Sportex fishing reel collector...

All I now is Sportex moved some machinery from Germany to England in the mid-fifties.
From that time on I can find Sportex fishing reels "Made in England".

I would like to find out from when till when they were located in England (my guess is from approx. 1955 till approx. 1960).

Any other information about Sportex England would be very much appreciated !

B.t.w. I am from Belgium, and it is quite difficult for me to find
information about this in England...

yep thats the first thing that jumped to my mind,on seeing the name of the company i thought.....ay ay sounds like a fishing reel collectors post.....and i was right:thumbsup:

Hi. In my kelly directory for 1951 no 11 is a scissor manufactorer

the 1954 one shows the Sportex company, by 1957 also a factory at 123 Rockingham st, By 1965 38 Rockingham lane only.

Late 60's to my final directory 1972 at 127 Devonshire st all local streets near the city centre.

I do not think so all mine are books apart from a 1924 cd one for Sheffield. The city library have them all from the early WHITE'S to KELLY'S.
