With maybe just one of each sex left, the rare Po'o-uli bird faces extinction

Just how far should man go in trying to save the species ? Should we save them or leave them if they dont want to mate in the first place ?
I was sadly reminded of the bit in Dumb and Dumber where our heroes accidentally kill the bird that the fund raising 'do' is in support of.
On a more serious note, extinctions are part of life on this planet - over the millions of years of fossil history there have been several 'mass extinction events' recorded, long before we came along.
We should keep our concern for the acts we carry out that create 'man made' extinctions, such as the wholesale destruction or poisoning of habitats.

Totally agree with you here Joe.
Rather than trying to fix the problem ... we should stop causing the problem in the first place.
But we won't ....
