This might be in the wrong place- Sorry if it is.

Anyone know the nearest place to park to the Octagon. My daughter is in a performance there tomorrow and I need to know where to park.

Hi rosie,
I have seen loads of large gigs at the Octagon. There is a car park nearby Opposite the West End Pub which is usually open. If your daughter is playing in a smaller event, I would have thought you could park in one of the streets nearby. You can sometimes get on one of the side roads of Glossop road.

Being a Sunday shouldn't prove too difficult but unfortunately the Octagon's close proximity to the Children's Hospital could make it hard work.

If you can't park near Clarkson Road (usually there's space on the road that leads up by the West End pub) I have a recommendation:

From the University roundabout take the Walkley turn-off (Winter Street) and park opposite Crookes Valley Park, just beyond Mushroom Lane; I'm sure there'll be plenty of room there. Then simply walk through Weston Park. It'll take you five minutes.

I had to take my youngest daughter to the Children's Hospital for an appointment a fortnight since and we did just this. Saves the stress of trying to park nearby!

Best of luck!!

Thank you for replying.

My daughter`s school is with 4 other schools and professionals performing Grease, so it might be busy with parents.

Many thanks for the help.

If you go up Western Bank, turn immediately left after the roundabout - there is loads of on-street parking there (I use to work at the uni and also regularly go to the SCH.) that most people just drive past and you can then go straight through the students union campus from the road and up to the Octagon main entrance. It should be free there on a Sunday too.
