I'm trying to trace a little of my family history and am keen to find out whether or not a church still exists in Hillsboough.

On a marriage certificate, dated Dec 26th 1934, the church is named as "Hillsborough, Wadsley Bridge Parish Church". I've looked on related web sites but cannot find this church by name.

Does anyone know if the church still exists or is it now known by a slightly different name? If the church does not exist where was it located?

I don't live in Sheffield but will travelling there in the near future to do some further research.

Passed the church this morning, I think.
Its now called Christ Church,Hillsborough and Wadlsey Bridge.

Its on Halifax Road opposite the junction of Kilner Way (shopping centre). So I took you a couple of photos.

Thanks Pietro that absolutely brilliant. I had seen the church on a section of a Sheffield based website which had a guide to many of the Sheffield churches. From that site I understand that all its marriage records are held in the Sheffield Archives - my next point of contact.

Not only has Sheffield got some of the best informative websites and forums, its got folks like you who grab the evidence with their camera and post it for you view.

I know this Church it's the the one where my Daughter Julia was Christened in 1965.. I was in a pop group at the time working odd hours and travelling around a lot, and couldn't get to the church for the normal hours that Christenings were done..So I had a chat with the Vicar/ Parson and he agreed to fit us in on Sunday afternoon after we had finished work at a nearby W.M.C. Very nice of him...Do people still get there Kids Christened nowadays???
