I'm not familiar with Mortgage Talk - but I would say this, don't take advise from any one introducer. Always, always see an Independent Fianancial Advisor.

If this is their own mortgage advisor then I'd recommend them. I bought a house last year where the seller used Blundells. I'd already had a 100% mortgage quote from HSBC when my offer was accepted by the seller, but I arranged an interview with the Blundells advisor to get a second opinion. He rang me up a few days before and asked if I'd had a 100% graduate mortgage quote from HSBC. When I said yes, he suggested that we cancel the interview as he could state definitely that nothing they had could match that. It's rare to find that kind of honestly nowadays.

We went through them a few years back. No problems.

We had already decided what mortgage we wanted from searching online. We let the advisor know, and filled in all the forms there and then, etc. They get their commission from the mortgage company and you get advice if needed and help with the paperwork.

I am an independant mortgage adviser and I also think that Blundells (Mortgage Talk) are ok, but you can get a quote off my company for free to see it it compares to Mortgage Talk. Beware Mortgage Talk do charge extra fees so be careful to discuss them with them before signing the paperwork.

If you want any further quotations please feel free to email me and I will get in touch with you.

Yep I've just used them and they are a bit naughty with their charging - basically £299 arrangement fee if you DON'T take life insurance (or whatever it is) with them and if you DO they reduce this to £99!!! BUT that aside everything has run very smoothly, to time and they got me a great deal. Plus the advisor was HOT!! hehe!

Horses for courses, they sell houses. They may be OK for mortgage advice.
Ideally you need to contact a mortgage broker.

I'd get quotes from a few sources. It's one of those situations where it's worth putting a bit of time and effort into it. If you're going to be paying for the next 25 years, it's worth making the extra effort to make sure you're getting the best deal you can, and at the end of the day they're not going to say "you can't have it now cos you looked elsewhere"!

Good luck!

I've just had a quote from Mortgage talk, my mortgage will be with Northern rock. They've said theres a £505 valuation report plus a £399 completion fee  is this normal. Northern rock have a £1000 cashback offer too, which they've "highly recommended" me to spend on "financial coaching" which costs a tidy sum of £1500. Has anyone else been told this?????
Plus can you tell me, the more quotes i obtain from different companies, will this affect my credit score
thanks!!!!

Northern Rock are notorious for huge fees and hoodwinking clients with lower mortgage rates sometimes £3000plus for a fixed rate mortgage. There is no such thing as a free lunch ,be wary of any cash back offers. As long as you only ask for a Key Facts Illustration and not a decision in principle, they will not do a credit check.
