Just got back from 'Zero' club. What a load of shopping centre rubbish. So many plastic people wailing along to nonsense and for £10 a ticket and £2,90 a pint....god what is the world coming to?

What else is there to go to in Sheffield on a Friday night?

Hmmmm?

UG? No i can't remember what it stands for either.

Left me with a bad feeling :shakes:

 Nightclubs....hyped noise with no spirit, big egos, hassle, :suspect: overpriced, false joy... bad drink (first time i've had to puke in years :gag: ) and all that silly hand waving and pointing to some great invisible happygod.

not for me then.

I brought a new mac a few months ago and dreamweaver mx and I've got no idea how to use MX .
I'm putting on 1 or 2 gigs per week at the moment but from January it shoud be up to 4 a week. What band are you in?

Aaarrrggghhh
04-12-2004, 06:21 PM
I tried MX but went back to 4, mostly same but simpler. Not ready to reveal any names yet but will be in touch. Did you put on the Mad Professor last week? Any similar stuff in the pipe? Thats a great looking service you're running there by the looks of it.

You seem to be complaining about nightclubs in general... so if you don't enjoy clubbing then you're not going to like any club are you?! Have to say that imo .Zero is the best club in Sheffield at the moment, no competion. It's really clean, safe, has a great atmosphere, fair bar prices for a club and the owners never stop working on improving things even more.

But is Zogg or whatever that much different? Spose i'll have to see for myself,if not then you're right, these kind of nights aren't for me but then System 7 gig'd last night in Manchester THAT, I expect was good 'clubbing'...

There is loads of underground stuff going off in Sheffield as most of the clubs are a bit crap. Over the last few months we have lost 4 nightclubs for various reasons.
.Zero had a rough rep a couple of years ago but the owners have turned it around and they put on some of the best nights in Sheffield with Zogg, Urban Gorrilla and Razor Stilletto.

Have to say, I've just come back from Razor Stilleto at Zero. Didn't mean to go there but did. It was damn good fun, great crowd great venue, great music, (if a litle cheesey) but very tongue in cheek. I think it may just be UG that is the less good night. Check out the rest before you right the place off. And of course System 7 are gona be good wherever they are, only ever seen them at festivals myself :)

Ralph who is head honcho at Razor Stilletto does a night at The Forum on a Wednesday called Kimmonoagogo. That is also good fun.

Compleatly agree with u sneak - zero is the one club in sheff at the mo that is holding a wide range of nights and i cannot fault them for anything at all!!! The lack of another room is a problem but that is due to space restrictions rather than the club owners.

As for UG- thats one of the best up and coming clubs in the country getting some of the most well respected and exciting young DJ's there and not charging the earth, in the past few weeks there has been jogn carter, darren emerson, james zabiela- all massive DJ's and i have not had to pay over £12.50 to get in- now THAT is impressive.

Maybe UG wasn't your thing but to rubbish everything about it cos you didn't like the music is a tad harsh i feel.

Indeed! Had a fantastic time at UG every time I've been - but I love breaks and beats - especially Mr C & The Stanton Warriors earlier this year, and throughly looking forward to Planet Zogg on Saturday (Darren S is from Essex too!)... Can't fault .Zero for anything - name a better venue (not night) in sheffield.
Go on.
GO ON.
You can't, can you?

Check this link - [link] (http://www.faizemusic.com/clubnights.asp)

Doesn't sound like glowsticks to me - can't see them at a funky house night, personally. Maybe confused with Zogg??

I was being sarcastic earlier...

Zero has lots of different nights one of which is Hustle which is a well regarded House night.

I'm sure there wont be any glowsticks or bright flouro stuff - but there will lots of decent House music.

yeah- the forum is a top place too, varied nights on there and a good place to go at night , takapuna i feel is a bit limited in music choice but that also is a really nice bar.

Loadsa work's been done inside Zero. They recently moved the DJ box to the opposite end of the dance floor & hung a big projection screen above it. It looks so much better & has really improved the dynamic of the club cos everyone on the dance floor can see the djs now.

Don't know how much Hustle is I'm afraid, but it's a quality (& credible!) House night. Have fun!

your £10 was for UG, jon carter last friday i think.

if your a member, it would have been £8.

not bad considering theres plenty of venues who'd be charging over £15 for Carter.

Dont forget, some djs fees are huuuge.

and dont forget.....for that tenner, .zero was open till 6am.

scottf
08-12-2004, 10:34 AM
A tenner for john carter is VERY good- most other places (sankeys in manchester for example) would be charging £15-20 easily.

the membership at UG is well worth it. It's £2 and you get £2 off entry fee each visit, so you make the money back after your first visit with the card. Also gives you priority entry.

What's the point in slating something like UG, when you obviously don't get it? The ticket money you pay at UG is to see some of the world's best DJs (and these DJs don't come cheap).

It's like going to a football match when you don't understand football and wondering why you've just paid £20 or more to see some men in shorts kicking a ball around.

Surely the fact that there was 600 other people in their having the time of their lives, gave you some kind of hint?

Zero used to be a wicked club in 2003, best hip hop nights. What's happened? I heard gangs from Manchester came and ruined it all by bringing guns and stuff.

Dunno what happened pre 2004, but it obviously had a bad reputation. However the current management turned the place around and its now about the only sheffield club putting on non-mainstream dance nights.
