the kids are on a p3 at the moment with 256meg of ram and its a bit slow when they are on the net. I have been told that if i double the ram for about £20 it might speed things up a bit, until they can have a new comp altoghther. I know there is space to put in another 2 sticks of ram if need be.can anybody advise at all

Well.....

I've got a Celery running @ 800Mhz, with 192M RAM.

I get the same speeds on that (when browsing) as I do on this (AMD 2400+, 512M RAM) box. So I doubt that more memory will speed up your browsing experience. It will speed up most applications though (though you're still going to be limited by your processor).

What type of memory is it? I have some sticks of 128Mb and 256Mb PC133 SD-RAM for sale if you need it.
