LAME
What's 'lame' about it? The UK isn't part of the US as such American films are quite obviously foreign, it's not anyone else's fault if you meant to write 'foreign language films' but actually wrote 'foreign films'.

johnbradley
20-06-2007, 09:08
yeah, but the intention of the OP was to see which films people had seen which fall outside the conventional US/UK groupings.

The UK, insofar as cultural links, heritage, global foreign policy, secret societies, reptillian hybrids and such like, is far closer to the USA than any other country...to identify this as 'foreign', simply on a technicality, suggests you just want an argument:)

plekhanov
20-06-2007, 09:22
I'm British not American so I consider American films to be foreign, the OP can hardly complain if people respond to what he posted as opposed to what he intended to post.

johnbradley
20-06-2007, 09:26

The intended meaning of the op would have been perfectly clear had it included
a single additional word. As it was I responded to the meaning it had and that I understood.

Are you suggesting that in order for you to understand something it has to be laboriously spelled out for you?

I responded to your OP as I understood it, as to me films from Australia, Canada, The USA & New Zealand are foreign what's arsey about that?

You might have 'meant' something else but I responded to what I actually saw and honestly understood, I fail to see how you think acting to an honest misunderstanding with aggression and abuse is justified.

It wasn't a misunderstanding. It was a rather feeble attempt at humour. Of course I knew what the title of the thread meant.

On a pedantic note then - The Castle, most amusing ozzie film.

On an even more pedantic note, an Australian film is not a foreign film, because Commonwealth countries are not "foreign". That is why we have a "Foreign and Commonwealth Office".

As America is not in the Commonwealth, its films are, indeed foreign (though not foreign language).

Two films that everyone seems to have missed:

Eat Drink Man Woman - I defy anyone to watch this without drooling :P

Tomorrow I Wake Up And Scald Myself With Tea - a man chasing his identical twin brother backwards and forwards through time and reliving the same day over and over again. Difficult to follow & well nigh impossible with subtitles :D It's a fairly old film, 70's or early 80's I think, so probably hasn't aged well but it could be fantastic if it was re-made.
